PATRIOT Communications Technician – Sr Field Engineer I

Location: OCONUS

Job Type: Full Time 

Duties and responsibilities will include the following tasks:

The PATRIOT Communications Technician – Sr Field Engineer I is responsible for the check out, repair, and maintenance of all communications equipment including computer networking with Cisco systems equipment, OSPF routing, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN connections, Virtual Private Networking, fiber optic links, and communication packet analysis. The qualified individual will provide technical advice and assistance for the testing, maintenance, repair, and operation of all ultra-high frequency/very high frequency (UHF/VHF) communications equipment and links located throughout the PATRIOT System to include the associated tower and COMSEC equipment. The Sr Field Engineer I may also be required to interface with the communications manufacturer for engineering support as required.

Required Skills:

  • 4 years of demonstrated experience in troubleshooting, fault isolation, repair, and test of military radio and communications equipment.
  • Proficiency using commercial test equipment to input test signals, signal traces and voltages, current and resistance measurements to isolate faults and recognize solutions. 
  • Experience and training in IT communications, Cisco networking, and TC/IP type LAN/WAN connections. Proficiency in the use of commercial test equipment and tools used in troubleshooting and repair of electronic circuits is mandatory.  
  • An excellent knowledge of basic and advanced electronics, HFSSB, VHF/UHF/AM and multiplex communications systems and associated control or switching equipment is required. Experience and training using typical communication test instruments. 
  • Knowledge in the repair of secure digital fiber optic links and networks. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work in an extreme desert heat environment.  
  • Prior supervisory experience in managing communications personnel.

Desired Skills

  • US Army MOS-specific training is preferred. 
  • Preference given to those with completion of specific US Army training courses as a PATRIOT Missile System communications operator/maintainer with MOS 25F/31R/14E/14J and practical experience working with the PATRIOT System.  
  • Should be skilled in troubleshooting and repair of the Thales 9310, Ultra 245, SINCGARS, MIDS terminals, JTIDS and similar type radios.  
  • Experience with ATDL-1, Link-11, Link-16, and PADIL operations. 
  • Tower climbing training is desired. 
  • Demonstrated experience or working knowledge of CPX-200/300, MLT- 220, Cisco Routers and Switches, and international Digital Switch Multiplexing Equipment.  
  • Experience with PATRIOT Communications systems to include Encryptors, Black Patch Panel, Red Patch Panel, FSK Modems, Routing Logic Radio Interface Unit (RLRIU), and Joint Tactical Information Distribution System (JTIDS) a plus. 
  • Previous experience in International PATRIOT FMS programs.  Ability to communicate effectively with peers and customers.

Required Education: 

Bachelor of Science and 4 years experience, Associates Degree with 8 years experience, or 12 years of related experience. 

 

PATRIOT Communications Technician – Field Engineer II

Location: OCONUS

Job Type: Full Time 

The PATRIOT Communications Technician – Field Engineer II, under the direction/supervision of the Sr Field Engineer I, performs operational check out, repair, and maintenance of all communications equipment including computer networking with Cisco systems equipment, OSPF routing, TCP/IP, LAN/WAN connections, Virtual Private Networking, fiber optic links, and communication packet analysis. Qualified individual will perform troubleshooting, fault isolation, repair and test of radio and communications equipment used with the PATRIOT Air Defense system. The individual will also identify and replace faulty components and perform functional tests to assure that systems conform to all specifications and standards.

Required Skills:

  • 4 years of demonstrated experience in troubleshooting, fault isolation, repair, and test of military radio and communications equipment.
  • Proficiency using commercial test equipment to input test signals, signal traces and voltages, current and resistance measurements to isolate faults and recognize solutions.

PATRIOT Communications Technician

Location: OCONUS

Job Type: Full Time 

The Communications Technician shall be responsible for the organizational repair/maintenance of communications equipment in support of the Fire Units and Battalions. They will perform technical support on PATRIOT communications equipment, broader network centric systems and perform maintenance and upgrades for applications for system integration data link support. This role with execute troubleshooting procedures for the PATRIOT Communications Subsystems and produce basic Network Modules to troubleshoot and resolve all network and communications hardware failures down to the battery replaceable units (BRUs). The Communications Technician shall provide technical advice and assistance for the testing, maintenance, repair, and operation of all ultra-high frequency/very high frequency (UHF/VHF) communications equipment and links located throughout the PATRIOT missile system to include the associated towers, all mounted communications equipment, and COMSEC equipment.

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English; individual is required to communicate both orally and written to enable the satisfactory performance of the job duties
  • Be a graduate of the Communications / Network Switching Repairer (MOSs 25F/25U) Course or a graduate of a technical school or manufacturer’s course of instruction on communication systems
  • The Communications Technician shall possess work experience in troubleshooting, fault isolation, disassembly, repair, assembly and checkout of communication / network switching systems
  • The Communications Technician shall possess demonstrated skill in the use of engineering drawings, schematic diagrams, general-purpose commercial test equipment, and common tools
  • The Communications Technician shall have additional demonstrated experience of one (1) year or more in network administration and operation with TCIP, VOIP and fiber optic network operations
  • Minimum of four (4) years of experience in the repair, operation and sustainment of UHF/VHF communication systems and networks and possess a demonstrated experience and knowledge of PATRIOT communication networks
  • Per AR 530-1 Operations Security, the subcontractor employees shall complete Level I OPSEC Awareness Training. New employees shall be trained within 30 calendar days of their reporting for duty and annually thereafter.
  • Active DOD security clearance (Secret)

 

Calibration Lab Technician

Location: OCONUS

Job Type: Full Time 

The Calibration Lab Technician shall be responsible for troubleshooting, calibrating, reconditioning and performing simple modification duties on electronic equipment by working from explicit blueprints, schematics, calibration procedures and oral and written instructions. The Calibration Lab Technician tests and performs routine measurements with automated test equipment to ensure conformance with established standards in the testing and measuring of test equipment and instruments. This position assists in the repair and replacement of defective or malfunctioning parts, wires, etc., and in the selection of proper replacement parts. This position performs tests and calibrates meters, oscilloscopes and other common laboratory and diagnostic equipment and instrumentation. The Calibration Lab Technician assists in the construction and fabrication of peripheral equipment including voltage and current indicators, cables, mechanical adapters, etc.

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English; individual is required to communicate both orally and written to enable the satisfactory performance of the job duties
  • Ability to conduct tests and perform routine measurements with automated test equipment to ensure conformance with established standards in the testing and measuring of test equipment and instruments

Machinist

Location: OCONUS

Job Type: Full Time 

The Machinist shall be proficient in the operation of the various mechanical aptitudes, such as sheet metal fabrication, machining, and digital inspection. The Machinist will facilitate the repair and/or fabrication of PATRIOT equipment. Additionally, the individual should be able to interpret and incorporate changes on items in accordance with instructions from engineering or other approved sources.

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English; individual is required to communicate both orally and written to enable the satisfactory performance of the job duties
  • Graduate of a vocational school in the allied trades field or equivalent experience
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation
  • A minimum of three (3) years relevant experience is required

 

Welder

Location: OCONUS

Job Type: Full Time 

The Welder shall be responsible for safely, productively, and skillfully using various welding tools and equipment. Responsible for permanently joining metal parts using high heat application to form a permanent bond using TIG/MIG welding techniques. Specializes in different processes of welding to join metals together. Proper maintenance ensures equipment runs in top condition and to full capability every day and the depot environment is organized and efficient.

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English; individual is required to communicate both orally and written to enable the satisfactory performance of the job duties
  • Detailed knowledge of TIG/MIC and Arc welding procedures
  • Good communication, layout skills and works independently
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation
  • A detailed knowledge of welding standards and specifications for military applications
  • Possess a current welding certification
  • Minimum three (3) years of relevant experience performing welding in the defense and aerospace industry is required

 

Painter

Location: OCONUS

Job Type: Full Time 

The Painter shall be skilled in applying paint and additional finishes to inside and outside surfaces of military equipment. This position requires the ability to utilize precoating agents, filling and leveling materials, and mix and match colors and textures. The Painter shall be able to read blueprints, drawings, technical specifications and material data sheets in the successful completion of assigned painting task. Painters must be able to follow compound specifications for mixing of paints and painting techniques, handle huge material movement, and maintain correct record and general recordkeeping.

  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English; individual is required to communicate both orally and written to enable the satisfactory performance of the job duties
  • Examine and maintain painted exterior and interior painted surfaces, trimming and fixtures
  • Prepare surfaces and apply paints, stains, shading stains, and clear finishes
  • Remove previous paint by means of sandblasting, scraping, sanding, hydro-blasting and steam-cleaning
  • Inspect and refurbish wall surfaces by means of the appropriate materials
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation
  • A detailed knowledge of painting standards and specifications for military applications
  • Order paint supplies and materials
  • Cover interior walls and ceilings with fabrics
